I just posted this meme over on Facebook, and it seemed too good not to post here too. Give it a try if you like!
Using only books you have read this year (2009), answer these questions. Try not to repeat a book title. Itβs a lot harder than you think!
Describe yourself: Loving (Henry Green)
How do you feel: At Large and At Small (Anne Fadiman)
Describe where you currently live: Among the Mad (Jacqueline Winspear)
If you could go anywhere, where would you go? The Other Side of You (Salley Vickers)
Your favorite form of transportation: On Borrowed Wings (Chandra Prasad)
Your best friend is: Jane Austen: A Life (Claire Tomalin)
You and your friends are: The Odd Women (George Gissing)
What’s the weather like: Gaudy Night (Dorothy Sayers)
You fear: The Great Mortality (John Kelly)
What is the best advice you have to give: Nothing To Be Frightened Of (Julian Barnes)
Thought for the day: An Academic Question (Barbara Pym)
How I would like to die: A Great Deliverance (Elizabeth George)
My soul’s present condition: Harmonium (Wallace Stevens)
Wow–great answers! And it reminds me of so many things I want to read! This looks like a difficult task to me, not sure I’m up to it. But perhaps I’ll try…

Thank you for the tag! I’ll try to give it a go, but I’m not sure I can keep within 2009 – or else you may have to expect some very strange answers! π

This was hard but so much fun! Like your answers (especially the advice one, beats my own which seems to advise prostituting yoruself for foreign currency).

Fun!!! I’m not sure I’ve read enough books to make the answers clever though.

Heh, that was fun. Sylvia at Classical Bookworm did something similar only she didn’t limit it to 2009 books. Limiting it might make it easier because there is less to choose from. I’m planning on giving it a go when my term paper lets me breath a bit.

This is an interesting challenge… and I love the title too. But don’t think I’ve even have enough books read to answer all the questions here. Talking about life and literature, I’ve just finished reading The Elegance of the Hedgehog. Wonder if you’ve read it or written about it? That probably would be my answer to the question ‘What’s the best book you’ve read so far this year?’ Thanks for the thought-provoking post.

Those are great ‘answers’! Somehow they all fit perfectly. I think I am going to nab this one as well–it sounds like fun.

Good answers. I’ll have to borrow from 2008. Interesting to see your 2009 reads too.

Gentle Reader — I almost didn’t do it because I thought none of the titles would fit, but I was wrong! Once I started looking, I found it was hard to choose.
Litlove — strange answers are part of the fun! But going back to later years would be fine π
Jodie — it was fun, wasn’t it? I was lucky with the advice one; that book was easy to choose.
Debby — well, if you wanted to you could use books from earlier years. But the titles you have from this year might surprise you. I was surprised at how many of them fit.
Stefanie — I’m looking forward to yours! Hope the paper is going well π
Arti — I did read Elegance of the Hedgehog and wrote about it here:

I loved it!
Danielle — I saw your post and am glad you picked this meme up. Wasn’t it fun?
Pete — I’m sure bending the rules a bit is just fine π
Iliana — I’ll look for your answers!

This is so cool! I’m going to try it in the next few days. Very well done; I especially liked “Among the Mad” as your description of where you currently live. π

Emily — oh, that book felt particularly appropriate after the last faculty meeting I attended! π
Melanie — I’m glad you tried it! It is lots of fun to make the titles fit.
Tiina — welcome! Thank you for stopping by. Do give the meme a try!
Mystrygirl87 — well, I can’t say my answers were really creative, as I didn’t write a word, but it was a lot of fun to match titles up.
