The logical and analytical type. They are especially attuned to difficult creative and intellectual challenges and always look for something more complex to dig into. They are great at finding subtle connections between things and imagine far-reaching implications.
They enjoy working with complex things using a lot of concepts and imaginative models of reality. Since they are not very good at seeing and understanding the needs of other people, they might come across as arrogant, impatient and insensitive to people that need some time to understand what they are talking about.

INTP’s are cool, but can seem a bit dreamy to us INTJ’s. We are blood siblings though; both living through the mind; dipping into reality only occasionally.

Nah, you aren’t arrogant or insensitive, only others might perceive you as such because you process information internally and analytically and tend to be quiet and some people, especially ones who are Fs instead of Ts get wigged out by that because it isn’t effusive and transparent.

ggw bach — when I take personality tests, I come out INTJ — it’s interesting to think about the relationship between my personality and my writing (if one is to take these tests seriously!).
Stefanie — thank you! The description does say I “might come across” as those negative things, but not that I am actually those things! The funny thing is, when I take the personality test, I come out barely an INTJ, very, very close to an INFJ, and I think this explains why I can be quiet and non-effusive, but I can also get a little wigged out when other people are like that! I have a complicated relationship to emotion and analysis, I’m afraid … π

Dorothy – it never crossed my mind that you could ever be those negative things! In fact when I read that last sentence again, I think the fault lies in the other people as a misperception. But even so, I can’t imagine you ever coming across as arrogant or insensitive! The first paragraph was a lot more apt.

My blog is ESFP – The Performers–which is pretty close to my blogging persona (except for the part where they say we’re not planners).
My personality is NOT that, though–I can’t remember my last Meyers-Briggs test ENFP?
And you are far from arrogant, though one of the strengths of your voice is that you’re very strongly opinionated here.

I don’t think you come across as arrogant, impatient or insensitive–quite the reverse actually. However the ‘difficult creative and intellectual challenges” part does sound like you–certainly in the books you choose to read! I am ISTP–mechanic. I don’t really see it–the independent part maybe–but adventure seeker like wanting to drive race cars–hahah–in their dreams.

Thank you Litlove! Even if it is the fault of the perceiver, it’s still not fun to think that others might think I’m arrogant! And I’ve felt uncertain when others are quiet and withdrawn, so I know what it’s like to wonder if someone else is arrogant or simply shy. It helps for me to remember that maybe they are like me π

I just tried it too; my blog came up as ISTP — not all the INTJ I am in personality tests. Very odd. You’re right, it would be interesting to know how the program analyzes blogs.

Maybe I ought to do this one again and see if my blog has changed at all. Last time I did it, my blog was an ESFP (almost the exact opposite of the results when I take the test for myself and not my blog).

I got the following. I’m starting to get a little self-conscious; the gender analyzer pegged me as female and the drawing for this one was a drunk female at a bar. Most of my writing influences were men writing SF… how does this work out? π

The entertaining and friendly type. They are especially attuned to pleasure and beauty and like to fill their surroundings with soft fabrics, bright colors and sweet smells. They live in the present moment and donΒ΄t like to plan ahead – they are always in risk of exhausting themselves.
The enjoy work that makes them able to help other people in a concrete and visible way. They tend to avoid conflicts and rarely initiate confrontation – qualities that can make it hard for them in management positions.
